So.. thoughts? Feelings? Theories as to who the hell the purple text voice in the sky is?

I mean my mind immediately went to unicron but that might be too obvious. I guess it could just be a quintessen judge but it feels too powerful for that considering it’s literally deconstructing the building. Devil Z maybe??? Though that might be too far fetched. Oh god please tell me it ain’t primacron.

This page confuses me. It says “now” but it seems like it’s skipping around in time. Is megatron just coming out of the trials? Did shockwave and soundwave go through the same trials or did they rescue him?

Or did we most likely just skip to a random point in time after the trials megatron went through and now find him on some random building in cybertron in the middle of the war. If that is the case I guess it’s not the first time starscream had his eye damaged.

And boy is it brutal. But I’m just here for the panels featuring soundwave

Man i hope we find out more about who the hell astrotrains love is and why megatron killed em. Also missing one arm/cannon yet still able to beat astrotrain? The hell kinda juice did those quints give him?

Anyway back to soundwave panels.

Yeah I don’t think this megatron is gonna be very lenient with people who try to kill him… aside from starscream? For some reason? Idk why he doesn’t just get someone else to wield him tbh.

maybe it’s a sunk cost fallacy sort of mindset thing? Or it’s something to do with his newfound abilities? Who knows

I can’t tell if that’s a kind thing to say to put him outta his misery or a cold blooded thing. Or merely a factual statement. A+ soundwave keepin it real as always

Hmm I foresee someone getting their arm ripped off in the near future.

Now after reading all of that may I just say DAMN that shit was brutal! in The best way possible. Up until now I’ve been surprised at the displays of kindness and mercy megatron had shown towards others. Like not killing the pleading scientist and repairing ravage.

I wonder why he seems to care about soundwave and his cassettes to such an extent that it sort of clashes with what he says about strength. Though I suppose that depends on his definition of strength. He did seem to care about his own clan so maybe he has a soft spot for families? That seems like the only consistent thread between all those instances.

If any of y’all are shocked at the brutality of megatrons actions I gotta remind folks that first of all, he is the bad guy. I’d say his ideology speaks for itself on that matter. And second of all did you honestly think that he wasn’t going to punish/kill his soldiers for trying to kill him? That part atleast seemed reasonable.

What’s not reasonable or healthy is whatever the hell thing he’s got going on with starscream but that’s not really new unfortunately. Like most megatrons throughout the continuities I imagine he gets some sort of satisfaction from putting starscream through so much suffering. And with what we now know about what megatron has been put through with the quintessons, the similarities in the cycle of abuse has never been more clear.

Gotta love the emotional drama of it all. Can’t wait to see more of the story and the development of these characters!

Things about transformers that bother and irk me

Part 2 electric boogaloo

I hhhhhate that Orion pax was turned into an archivist in the aligned continuity. Why can’t my boy be a dock worker in peace? It would put him way more on the level with megatron since they’d both come from under appreciated lower class workplaces

Not to mention he got turned into a cop in the idw1 continuity. Yet somehow the archivist feels like the more pretentious job to give him due to the whole alpha trion bit in it.

SO glad they went with something less high class in the transformers one movie where it actually feels like they start out on equal grounds rather than it being like a “Oooh I read some of your quaint poetry and I wanna meet up to see what it’s like on the other side ~”

Like get OUTTA HERE with that shit

Here’s to hoping they’ll keep it up. Because idk about you but I’m much more interested in Optimus/orion and his conflict with megatron if he actually started out as a lower class on cybertron

It also finally would’ve given some much needed payoff as to what the plan soundwave had in mind when getting captured in the first place.

And it explains why frenzy and laserbeak were like “we don’t have to follow his orders anymore” if they were were referring to starscream apparently being the one in command.

The fact that it was cut for time is a pretty big issue story wise because now Soundwave’s actions makes no sense at all to the viewers.

Unless they somehow manage to just pull a side plot together from out of nowhere, I don’t see how the writers are gonna give that storyline a proper resolution.

That two-and-a-half minute deleted scene does SO much to establish Starscream's rank (ordering Soundwave around) and personality. I am SO GLAD he's a smug, scheming goblin instead of a milquetoast like Armada Starscream. (Armada Starscream slander is always valid in this house.)

It also establishes his antagonism towards Megatron. The fact that he interprets Megatron's visit to the memorial as "gloating" says so much.

Depressed Soundwave is also a concept I want to see more of! Between Megatron handing him over to GHOST and two of his cassettes leaving, he has a lot to be sad about.

It’s been a while after the whole krakoa thing and I’m still bummed that I can’t find a single sign of Evan Sabahnur.

The only mention of him I can remember was from Laura Kinneys clone, being rightfully worried for other clones and why they weren’t getting revived (bless her heart).

Imagine getting killed off when you aren’t even in your own state of mind with your own memories. I mean he had a whole freakin character arc and friends who I thought would miss him but I guess not? I sure as heck didn’t see Quentin quire mention him during his time on krakoa, nor did any of his other classmates for that matter.

I wish Gerry duggan had absorbed him into the Deadpool cast of characters so he didn’t have to go through the terrible krakoa ordeal (aka Nate grey) in the beginning. He could be hanging out with the Preston family right now. This sucks. It also sucks that at the end of his run Gerry duggan hit the factory reset on Deadpool’s memories so I’m not even sure he remembers Evan!

BUT on the bright side it seems like they revived a lot of mutants at the end of the krakoa arc so I’m hoping that one of the writers will remember he exists and actually do something with him because there’s a lot of story potential in that kid just waiting to be explored.

I hope he returns rightfully pissed off

Soundwave is a powerhouse and an enigma and we don't talk about it enough so i'mma just gonna make a compilation of "how the hell did he do that" and "what the hell is he" moments that i've managed to find from across several transformers continuities

first off is from the first IDW comic continuity

this is never explained, so i can only assume its because soundwave is technically an outlier but i haven't seen a panel that shows other outliers having "off the scale" readings, whatever that means.

and then in the last moments of this continuity he sacrifices himself to save the universe/earth by using his outlier ability along with the enigma of combination to essentially connect the dead to the living in the entire galaxy for a hot minute . idk how the hell he did that or how he knew to do that, my money is on bad writing but i digress.

next up Transformers Prime

tfp fans: elaborate on that. tfp writers: no. transformers prime soundwave is definitely a powerhouse and an enigma for several reasons but number one is this god damn scene with ratchet exclaiming soundwave isn't your standard cybertronian and then to my frustration the show refuses to explain why.

also he can open portals. the only explanation for that is in the novels where he actually was part of the invention of spacebridge technology. i guess he could've incorporated that into himself, which frankly is kinda unheard of in of itself. but still I feel inclined to tell him that skywarp called and they want their powers back.

Next, we have the game Transformers: fall of cybertron. where he scavenges together all of megatrons parts and puts him back together which, yeah sure why not? it's essentially like putting a corpse back together but then he just REVIVES HIM??

with his mind completely intact despite having been decimated by Metroplex and being dead for several hours. excuse me sir but that shouldn't be possible. I guess I could just chop it up to the writers being a bit loosey goosey with their own rules for the world but it's still quite a feat. but thinking back to G1 where he did the same thing with skyfire I guess they assumed it's just something he can do?

although skyfire's revival was a bit more reasonable considering he was still in one piece and frozen solid which they explained to be the reason as to why he was kept intact. but I'm assuming that's why the writers were like "well let's just have him do the same thing for megatron" and everyone was like yeah okay why not. also like a lot of things in G1 this inbuilt high voltage canon/defibrillator is never brought up again which is hilarious and par for the course for G1.

there are several more moments throughout all the tf continuities where soundwave just does something inexplicable but these are a some of the moments that stuck out to me the most. I welcome others to add onto this post if they wish. because I'm sure I've missed some "how the hell did he do that" moments that would be a shame not to bring up.

I wish I could’ve asked the writers of idw2 about the background story they had written for soundwave.

Because it seems like they had something pretty clear in mind that they wanted to delve into. And from the looks of things it could’ve been a rather interesting background story.

i love the how the artist was able to make him so expressive I can only imagine that it would’ve given some much needed depth to Soundwave’s character. Also would’ve been nice to finally see him get a proper origin story which I don’t think he really got in idw1 (the fact he starts out with no memories of his origins and no resolution still bothers me)

But I admittedly have a lot more issues with idw2, (mostly the repetition of words and sentences) yet surprisingly from what I did read in regards to soundwave I didn't have any major issues with his portrayal. (y'know aside from his yellow visor and job position) from what we did see of him he behaved coherently and according to his character. His little issues with starscream added some fun drama and made him a bit more relatable.

And then throughout the comics there are hints to soundwave having what seems to be a complicated past involving both soundblaster and sixshot? Which points towards it being a mercenary group of some kind.

And we never saw him in any of the flashbacks of the war against the Three fold spark, despite it being the perfect place for soundwave to become acquainted with megatron. but no, there's no explanation for how they met but there is a lot of megatron giving soundwave both orders and almost mentor like advice.

Its always a shame to see a continuity go dead when it had just started but I can’t say i’ll mourn anything else from it that isn’t soundwave. which says a lot.

RIP idw2 tf continuity, atleast you gave us a nice little story in the shattered glass comics you made before you lost the license.

Though now that the new license holder is image comics, I look forward to seeing what they’re gonna do with it. And if they’ll learn anything from the previous continuities.

Getting into Deadpool again after a long break and I stumble upon the occasional post dissing my boy when they don’t even read his comics

They just come in and be like “Urgh I don’t like Deadpool” and sure fair enough but could you go rain on someone else’s parade? And leave my boy alone? If you don’t like him that’s fine just don’t spread hate. Don’t like the fans? Don’t bother em. I guarantee you that Deadpool ain’t the only one who got an obnoxious part of a fanbase. He’s also got really wonderfully colorful and creative fans who like him. And you’re certainly not hurting the obnoxious part of the fan base by calling them annoying.
